Nominations are open for the 2020 Casey Australia Day Awards, and council is calling on residents to put forward those deserving of recognition for their outstanding contributions to community.
The annual awards recognise and honour people who consistently go above and beyond to serve others, be it as a volunteer, professional or community member.
Nominations can be made for individuals or community groups for their contribution to the Casey community in either a professional or volunteer capacity. This could be in any field including but not limited to sport, arts, humanities or community service.
Council are seeking nominations for the following four categories:
• Casey Citizen of the Year: this award recognises outstanding individuals who in their profession or as a volunteer, lead by example, inspire others and demonstrate excellence and commitment in their field.
• Casey Young Citizen of the Year: this award recognises exceptional young people under the age of 25 years.
• Casey Senior Citizen of the Year: this award recognises those aged over 60 years who continue to achieve and contribute.
• Casey Community Group of the Year: this award recognises a Casey community group that provides support or events or fundraising or service for the benefit of the Casey community.
Casey mayor Amanda Stapledon said it’s important to celebrate the many people who give their time, passion and energy to help build a better community here in Casey.
“It is fitting that on Australia Day we celebrate the individuals and community groups who give so much to make Casey a wonderful place to call home. I encourage you to nominate someone who you believe deserves the recognition,” she said.
All nominee finalists are invited to the 2020 Casey Australia Day Awards, a prestigious event celebrated on Australia Day, where Casey’s Citizens of the Year are announced. Casey councillors will be in attendance, and the mayor will officiate the event.
Nominations for the 2020 Casey Australia Day Awards are now open and will close at 3pm 7 October. To learn more or to nominate a person or group for an award, visit our Australia Day Awards web page.
