SOCCER players at Sweeney Recreation Reserve are now using first class facilities.
Casey mayor Janet Halsall officially opened Berwick City Soccer Club’s home ground pavilion recently.
The new centre offers four change rooms as well as a large canteen, first aid room, storage space and a referees’ change room.
Mosaic artist Anna Minardo was brought in to design and create mosaic tiles that reflect the theme of soccer, its players and supporters.
Cr Halsall said: “As soccer continues to gain popularity, it is significant that council has been able to develop this fantastic new facility.”
“The facility will assist Berwick City Soccer Club to better service its existing members, and allow it to widen its membership base.”
She said Casey had invested $981,000 to fund the project.
“The mosaic tiles really complement the new pavilion and are located in the paving at the front and rear of the pavilion.
“I encourage the community to take the time to look at this artistic display and I extend my thanks to Anna for creating such a beautiful addition to the pavilion.”
