Floating jetty at Lysterfield

LYSTERFIELD Sailing Club members can now launch their boats from the safety of a new floating jetty at Lysterfield Lake.
The jetty will also help disabled sailors.
The project is part of an $11,000 State Government package that also enabled the sailing club to buy two dinghies and put several members through a boat handling course.
Lysterfield Sailing Club commodore Mara Chachs attended the opening along with Shire of Yarra Ranges councillors and many past and present sailing club members.
Former club commodore Brian Gurling played a large part in over-seeing the design and construction of the new jetty and said he was thrilled with the end result.
“This jetty will be a great benefit to our club and its members and I personally would like to thank all those involved in arranging this jetty,” Mr Gurling said.
“It will enable disabled participants in the Sailability Program to be wheeled on to the jetty and winched directly from their wheelchair into their yacht in a safe and controlled manner.”
MP Luke Donnellan performed the official opening.
“The installation of this jetty is the culmination of a lot of effort by a lot of people including the Lysterfield Sailing Club, the Shire of Yarra Ranges, Sailability , and Marine Safety Victoria, and I congratulate each and every one of you,” he said.
