Two teens who went for a joy ride in an alleged stolen car from Narre Warren have been charged.
Members of the Dandenong Frontline Tactical Unit observed the car travelling on the South Gippsland Freeway about 11.45pm on Saturday 8 February.
Officers deployed stop sticks and the vehicle came to a stop before five males fled from the vehicle, which was allegedly stolen in an aggravated burglary in Narre Warren South on 7 February, police say.
A short foot chase began before officers arrested two 17-year-old boys.
One Clyde North teenager was subsequently charged with theft of motor vehicle, handle stolen goods, evade police while being pursued, and breach of bail.
The other teenager, from Cranbourne, was charged with theft of motor vehicle, handle stolen goods, evade police while being pursued, and breach of bail.
Both have been remanded to reappear at a children’s court at a later date.
A few days later, patrolling officers observed a running car at a Narre Warren service station with no visible driver.
Police approached the vehicle and located a female passenger inside who was allegedly in possession of a drug of dependence.
The male driver was located outside a nearby toilet allegedly in possession of the same substance.
Police charged the 25-year-old Clyde North man with trafficking and possessing drugs of dependence, possessing a controlled weapon, unlicensed driving and commit an indicatable offence while on bail.
He was remanded to appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court later today.
