Festival date change

THE City of Casey has advised that the 2006 Victorian Seniors Festival, traditionally held in March, will be held in early October, as will the Ageing Positively in Casey Festival.
The event has been moved due to the cultural festival planned for the Commonwealth Games, Festival Melbourne 2006.
City of Casey director community services Jennie Lee said the council was recently advised of the date change by the Minister for Aged Care, Gavin Jennings.
“The new dates for the 2006 Victorian Seniors Festival are for the week from 1 to 8 October, which coincides with the United Nations International Day of the Older Person on 1 October.
“Consequently, council will hold the City of Casey Ageing Positively Festival from 1 to 15 October to complement the State-wide celebrations being planned for older people.
“The change of dates will enable seniors to enjoy not only their festival in October 2006, but also the festivities surrounding the Melbourne Commonwealth Games in March,” Ms Lee said.
Ms Lee said planning for next year’s Ageing Positively in Casey Festival would commence around May/June 2006, and further information would be sent to all organisations and older residents and community groups.
For further information contact Aged Services resource officer Tania Malishev on 9705 5200.
