Parkers on a roll

HAMPTON Park’s VLBA A2 side kicked off a great week of competition for the club with a good win against Mentone (2) last Tuesday.
The Division Two, Section Three ladies knocked off top side Mornington Civic on Saturday.
It has been a long time since the Parkers have won at Mulgrave Country Club, but they did exactly that on the weekend – losing only one rink in Division Four, Section Six.
Pat Moevasa, Lance Davis, Ken Cobden and skip Bob Woodfield overcame an early deficit to score a three-shot win, while Vince Kovacic, Zac Storm, Andrew Brandolin and Lionel Williams stormed home over the last three ends to claim a five-shot victory.
Scores: Hampton Park 16-98 d Mulgrave Country Club (4) 2-84.
Jim Westwell, Fred McBrian, Geoff Ladner and Graham Slight (s) 14-26. P. Moevasa, L. Davis, K. Cobden and B. Woodfield (s) 21-18. Vince Kovacic, Zac Storm, Andrew Brandolin and Lionel Williams 31-26. Les Unwin, Jeff Crozier, Geoff Ampt and skip Neville Hendrie 32-14.
Hampton Park thrashed an undermanned Burden Park (5) by 123.25 shots in Division Six, Section Six.
The visitors had only 12 players and they were penalised 25 per cent of their final total.
Scores: Hampton Park (2) 18-172 d Burden Park (5) 0-48.75.
Keith McCarthy, Allan Unwin, Bob Nicol and Greg Pentland (s) 31-21. Jos Van Hout, Gerry Cox, Paul Barna and Larry Simpson (s) 48-15. Arthur Parish, Sean McDonald, Allan March and Bill Webb (s) 58-12. Bob Meaney, Ray Leggett, Mark Paton and Bob Naismith (s) 33-17.
The Parkers’ newer players in Division Eight, Section Five are showing promise and should be very competitive as the season progresses.
Rayden Storm, Allan Meziedis and skip Brian Diaper were the only winner, triumphing by .75 of a shot.
Rhonda Diaper, Willie Hofer and skip Alan Wilcock went down by 14.5 shots; Rico Storm, June Damon and skip Wally Waterman lost by 10; and Len Bell, Werner Melzer and skip Lino Da Pos were defeated by six.
