Grants support diversity

APPLICATIONS are now being accepted for the 2009 multicultural Community Grants Program.
Narre Warren South MP Judith Graley said the program played a vital role in supporting and empowering Victoria’s diverse communities.
“The aim of the grants program is to strengthen the capacity of individuals and groups to manage their affairs, support and inspire their local communities and participate in all aspects of the Victorian community,” she said.
The Community Grants Program provides funds to support the running of community organisations, the upgrading of buildings and facilities, educational programs, and the promotion of multicultural and multifaith harmony.
The Victorian Government has increased funding for the Victorian Multicultural Commission Community Grants Program from $750,000 in 1999 to $4.6 million per year. Applications close on Thursday 18 December.
