An additional case of Covid-19 has been reported in the past 24 hours in Casey – bringing the city’s tally to six active cases, according to the state’s latest health data.
It comes as Victoria’s cases rose by 13 to 1792. Of them, 1680 have recovered, the 19 June figures revealed.
In nearby council areas, Greater Dandenong has recorded two active cases while Cardinia had six.
There have been 193 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Victoria that have been acquired through unknown transmission.
Currently five people are in hospital, including two patients in intensive care.
Two of the new cases are linked to a family in Keilor Downs and are close contacts of a known case. The new outbreak has not been linked to the previously reported family outbreak in Keilor Downs.
Five of the new cases have been found in contracted security guards working at the Stamford Plaza hotel. All five worked shifts over a similar period at the hotel. The Department’s outbreak squad will continue to work closely with the hotel to protect contractors, staff and guests.
A link has been found between the Stamford Plaza outbreak and the south-eastern suburbs family outbreak previously reported, with an adult member of the family having worked as a security contractor at the Stamford Plaza hotel.
Further investigation of this link and all other aspects of these outbreaks is ongoing. One of the new cases is a close contact of a known case associated with the Rydges on Swanston Hotel outbreak.
