Boost for libraries

THE Casey-Cardinia Library Corporation will receive more than $50,000 as part of the Premier’s Reading Challenge program.
The State Government recently announced that all Victorian public libraries would receive money from the $1 million fund.
The Casey-Cardinia Library Corporation, which includes the Pakenham Library, will get a $51,636 boost.
Eastern Victoria MP Johan Scheffer said the funding would help young people in the area take part in the reading challenge.
“I am thrilled that Casey-Cardinia Library Corporation is part of this initiative, as it encourages children and teenagers in our community to get involved in reading and lifelong learning,” he said.
The aim of the challenge is to help more young people get the most out of their libraries and to develop literacy skills and an appreciation of books.
The Casey-Cardinia Library Corporation provides services for 79,310 people aged 16 or under.
More than 210,000 students from 1300 schools took part in this year’s challenge.
