HAMPTON Park Bowls Club’s four sides made a dream start to the year, with each of them winning.
The Parkers’ VLBA Division Two Saturday ladies’ team defeated Berwick (2) by 19 shots at home.
Tracy Storm, Gail Williams, Shirley Burnside and skip Helen Lambert won by three shots, while Christine Hendrie, Ann Westwell, Ellen Smith and skip Heather Naismith finished strongly to win the other rink by 16 shots.
Hampton Park’s RVBA Division Four side recorded a 57-shot victory over SOC (2).
Fred McBrian, Arthur Parish, Larry Simpson and skip Geoff Ladner had the big win for the day of 34 shots, while Pat Moevasa, Lance Davis, Ken Cobden and skip Bob Woodfield backed them up with a solid 19-shot win.
An early 18-shot lead got Jim Westwell, Jeff Crozier, Geoff Ampt and skip Neville Hendrie over the line by six shots after they slumped in the second half.
The game was decided on the last two ends when Sean McDonald, Zac Storm, Andrew Brandolin and skip Lionel Williams went down by two shots.
The Parkers’ RVBA Division Six outfit scraped past Keysborough (3) by two shots at Keysborough.
Vince Kovacic, Alan Wilcock, Allan March and skip Bill Webb led from the offset to triumph by 13 shots, while Bob Meaney, Jose Van Hout, Nick Wings and skip Rob Woff fell by just four shots.
A short burst of 12 shots in four ends was enough to give Gerry Cox, Allan Unwin, Paul Barna and skip Bob Naismith an eight-shot success.
Les Unwin, Ray Wood, Greg Pentland and skip Mark Paton were outplayed in their 15-shot loss.
Hampton Park beat Blackburn (8) by just half a point in RVBA Division Eight action.
Rico Storm, Keith McCarty, Gwen Clough and skip Ray Leggett streaked away to a 21-shot win to be the Parkers’ only winning rink.
Lenny Bell, Reg Montgomery, Lino De Pos and skip Bruce Pointon slumped in the second half to go down by 11 shots, while Rudy Oost, Willi Hofer, June Damon and skip Werner Melzer missed by only two shots.
Rayden Storm, Dot Carr and skip Leo Winters gave their opponents a big scare in going down by just 7.5 shots.
Meanwhile, Hampton Park’s club singles champions were Neville Hendrie (RVBA) and Christine Hendrie (VLBA).
