CASEY council will hold a civic reception for Berwick country music star Jessica-Jade Bruce to celebrate her efforts at the 2009 Telstra ‘Road to Tamworth’ competition.
River Gum Ward councillor Wayne Smith raised the issue as urgent business at Tuesday night’s council meeting.
Jessica-Jade was one of eight musicians who competed in the grand final at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment and Conference Centre, hosted by radio and television presenter, Nick Bennett.
Former Telstra ‘Road to Tamworth’ alumni, winners Morgan Evans and Jasmine Rae, and national ambassador Adam Harvey supported the eight grand finalists at the sold-out event.
Despite not taking home the winning title, Cr Smith described Jessica-Jade as being the next Gabriella Cilmi.
“She’s put Casey on the map and has the talent to go a long way,” he said.
