Narre Warren Justices of the Peace have moved to a new home.
From Monday 17 May, Justices of the Peace (JPs) are no longer housed at Narre Warren Police Station.
Instead, they can now be found at the Bunjil Place Library.
The JPs will still perform the same services at their new location.
Police at Narre Warren Police Station held a special morning tea on Friday 14 May to thank the Justices for their service.
Police praised the “familiar faces” that had spent years helping out at the station, taking workload pressure off the police, and described their work as “invaluable”.
“We want to take this opportunity of having you all here together to thank you wholeheartedly and sincerely for the hard work and camaraderie over the years,” said Senior Sergeant at Narre Warren Police Station, Graeme Stanley.
“JPs have provided a lot of comfort to us.
“You will be sadly missed.”
Awards were also presented to the JPs for their years of service, including awards for 10, 15 and 20 years of work.
Wendy Cantwell, coordinator of the Casey Library roster of JPs, said the new set up at Bunjil Place would work well.
She encouraged anyone who needed a document witnessed to drop in.
Ms Cantwell said the JPs come from a diverse cross-section of the community, and are able to help people for whom English is not their first language.
She also encouraged others to become a Justice of the Peace, even if they can only give two hours a month.
“It’s a great community service,” she said.
JPs will be at Bunjil Place Library Monday-Friday, from 10am-12pm, 2pm-4pm and 5pm-7pm.
Justice of the Peace services are also located at Balla Balla Community Centre in Cranbourne East, Greater Dandenong Library in Dandenong and Springvale Library in Springvale.
