Six people have had a lucky escape after a fire took hold in a Narre Warren South home.

CFA was called to a room on fire in a house just after 12.30pm at Addlington Court in Narre Warren South on Sunday 23 May.

The garage and front rooms of the single storey brick dwelling were well alight when firefighters arrived from CFA and FRV arrived.

Four adults and two children were found inside the house and all are safe.

The CFA confirmed the fire was caused by a candle.

An advice message was issued for surrounding suburbs due to smoke in the area.

The fire was declared safe at 1.42pm.
