WORKSAFE’S telephone advisory service has received more than 350 calls relating to working in the heat over the past week.
More than 200 heat-related calls had been received by 2pm Wednesday, making it the busiest day ever for the workplace health and safety advisory service.
As temperatures soared, WorkSafe was urging business operators and supervisors to ensure planning was in place for workers exposed to the high temperatures, particularly in coming days when fatigue would add to the danger.
