FAMILIES are set to enjoy a movie under the stars as Hampton Park Primary School prepares for next week’s annual twilight movie night.
The free event will kick off at 6.30pm on Friday 13 February, with pre-film activities including games and a performance by ‘Forever Undecided’, Year 10 band from Hampton Park Secondary College.
The screening of Madagascar 2 will start at around 8.30pm on the school oval.
Organiser Kerry Baker said the twilight movie night was a way for parents who worked during the day to be a part of the school community.
“Working parents often don’t get the opportunity to attend school-run events and often feel quite isolated,” she said. “Thestart of the new school year can be very stressful, both financially and emotionally and we wanted to find a way of allowing people to take some ‘time out’ that didn’t cost anything.”
The community initiative started three years ago as a way of bringing families and friends together at the start of the school year.
Holt MP Anthony Byrne said the local initiative was a credit to the hard work and dedication of the Hampton Park Primary School council.
Local businesses support the event by advertising on the big screen.
The Hallam Valley Rotary Club will run a sausage sizzle and the school canteen will be open.
