Plan amended for school

CASEY Council has amended a local development plan to make way for a large private prep to year 12 school in Narre Warren South.
At last Tuesday’s meeting, the council resolved to amend the Narre Warren South (part A) Development Plan to allow the private school, comprising an early learning centre, junior, middle and senior school, to proceed.
The amendment also allowed for the remainder of the site at 193-235 Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road to be subdivided to provide for 10 low-density residential lots.
The new school will include a gymnasium, swimming pool, auditorium and sporting fields.
The council report states the school intends to build the facility over a five to seven-year period and development would take place at various stages.
The plan indicates the school would start development in 2007 with the first stage most likely to be an administrative building, the early learning centre, an access road and car park, and the first sporting grounds.
The council also moved the amendment to the Narre Warren South Development Plan be placed on community exhibition for six weeks.
