A WORLD-CLASS hotel in Doveton is on track to open its doors in April.
The 128-room Chifley Doveton will include a wedding reception venue for 300 people, two restaurants and a micro brewery.
Constellation Hotel Group director of marketing Julie McKinnon told the News the organisation had taken steps to ensure the development of the building at the junction of the Princes Highway and South Gippsland Freeway was environmentally friendly.
Ms McKinnon said the hotel had installed a solar hot water pre-heat system, which reduced the energy required for heating water, and also installed efficient lighting controls.
“The hotel will have dimmer switches and light sensors in the rooms and corridors,” she said.
Underground water tanks have also been placed under the basement.
“This means we can still achieve the benefits of catching rainwater and re-using it throughout the hotel, without having the tanks visible from the outside of the building,” she said.
Despite the official opening date of the four-and-a-half star hotel not being set in concrete, Ms McKinnon said there would be a celebration event for the community on the hotel’s opening night.
Residents, along with hotel guests, will have access to the restaurants, which include alfresco dining at the Coldwater Creek tavern.
Beer lovers will be able to sample Chifley’s own ale as part of the hotel’s micro brewery.
