A COMMUNITY garden project is kicking off at the Brentwood Park Neighbourhood House this week.
The centre is teaming up with Outlook in Pakenham, a disability service provider, to launch the new project where six men, aged 20 to 60 years, will create a sustainable garden.
Representatives of both organisations met on Monday at the Bemersyde Drive centre with disability support staff, participants and their families from Outlook and councillors from the City of Casey after receiving a grant from council to get the project started.
Brentwood Park Neighbourhood House co-ordinator Amanda Eames said they would be looking at applying for more grants and donations to enable them to purchase a water tank.
“We are excited about this ongoing project as it will provide a beautiful space for the community to enjoy,” Ms Eames said.
Edrington Ward councillor Simon Curtis said the community garden was a great initiative as it got members active.
“Both myself and councillor Daniel Mulino will be supporting and working with the centre during the project,” he said.
