Family day

By Lia Bichel
The Neighbourhood Watch event has been running every second year for a decade.
The community organisation is dedicated to creating awareness about community safety and security.
Narre Warren South area manager Wendy Brock said the fun day would allow residents to learn about these issues while enjoying affordable family activities.
“We will have an information base at the event, along with the Blue Ribbon foundation,” she said. “Our main aim in this case is to create an event that is fun for families with traditional games and entertainment for the children.”
Ms Brock said children seemed to enjoy the event because of its oldfashioned activities, including handball, gumboot throwing, treasure hunts and novelty races.
Other attractions will include face painting, badge making, a lucky dip, live music, a sausage sizzle and Myuna Farm animals.
Entrance is free to those holding a current Neighbourhood Watch Newsletter. Many attractions are also free, and others will have a nominal charge. Myuna Farm attractions such as pony rides and farm trains will also incur charge.
The event will run from 10am until 4pm at the farm on Kidds Road, Doveton.
