STUDENTS at Southern Cross Primary School are learning different languages through multi-cultural programs.
Grades 5 and 6 students, representing 20 different countries, are participating in a pen-pal program with a school in the Netherlands as well as learning languages spoken by their classmates.
“The students are showing a great deal of pride and enthusiasm while sharing and teaching their own language,” teacher Andree Rodwell said.
“All students have an excellent opportunity to learn about each other’s countries, with the specific aim (of the program) to develop an awareness about their language and culture.”
As part of the language and culture program, Dr Rodwell said she also encouraged students to take part in weekly foreign language activities.
