STAFF at Casey Hospital got new hairdos last Thursday as they shaved their heads for the World’s Greatest Shave.
Thirteen staff at the Kangan Drive hospital parted with their locks in an effort to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation to continue providing practical care and support to patients and families living with leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma and related blood disorders.
Casey Hospital environmental services team leader Narelle Ritchie, who shaved her head for the first time last week, told the News that she was loving her new look.
“It’s great feeling,” she said.
“I started to feel nervous when I heard the clippers but I didn’t chicken out. I committed myself to it and went through with it.”
The 46-year-old, who has been working at the Casey Hospital for four years, said she took part in the shave to lend a helping hand.
The World’s Greatest Shave is one of Australia’s biggest fundraising events with 100,000 people across the country shaving or colouring their hair.
At least $4000 is expected to be raised from the event and through hospital collection tins.
