A chance to win big

The Seppelt All Star Mile 2022 is right around the corner and those who vote for a horse are selected as a race day owner, giving them the chance to share in a $500,000 prize pool.

The race has members of the public choose their favourite horses to compete for the prize money.

Berwick resident Julian Kaldawi’s vote previously earned him $75,000 and a place on the sidelines cheering Russian Camelot home to second place.

Previously he’d never gone further than the Derby Day car park, but after his brother told him about the competition.

The voting process ended up giving Julian the experience of a lifetime.

Initially he was ambitious to invest his winnings into cryptocurrency, but instead put it towards his mortgage.

“My affiliation with horse racing stretched as far as the Derby Day car park but now I’m a lot more involved” Julian said.

“It’s difficult to convey what it feels like to sit on the sidelines and watch a horse that could potentially get you $250,000 until you’re actually in that position, so if you have a minute put a vote in.”

Voting is open to all Australians aged 18 plus and gives everyone the chance to win, not just avid punters.

Entries close on Sunday 13 February.

The race will be held on Saturday 19 March at Flemington Racecourse.
