To help grow the next generation of environmental champions, Woolworths and Landcare Australia are offering 1,000 grants at up to $1,000 each as part of its 2022 Junior Landcare Grants program.
Primary schools and early learning centres are encouraged to apply to secure funding for their environmental projects.
The grants inspire kids from across the country to get hands-on with projects that focus on sustainable food production, improving waste management practices or enhancing native habitats.
Since 2018, a total of 2,274 primary schools and early education centres across Australia received Woolworths Junior Landcare Grants, with approximately 200,000 students getting hands-on caring for the environment.
Woolworths Junior Landcare Grants can be put towards a habitat restoration project, planting a bush tucker garden, planting a vegetable garden, running a composting or recycling project.
Successful applicants in 2021 include Only About Children Berwick’s bush tucker garden and Don Bosco Primary School’s composting program.
The Woolworths Junior Landcare Grants program is funded with a 10c contribution from each sale of the Woolworths Bag for Good at full price.
Bag for Good was launched in 2018 when Woolworths went single-use plastic bag free.
Applications are now open and will close at 5pm on Friday 18 March.
