Four major road projects currently underway in City of Casey growth areas are set to radically reduce congestion on roads and shorten residents’ commute times.
The projects will help relieve traffic along Berwick-Cranbourne Road and Clyde Road by constructing alternate routes and new intersections, providing direct access into new residential estates.
Council said it understands 88 per cent of residents have concerns with congestion on the City’s roads, and has partnered with the Department of Transport to bring forward crucial projects.
The major road projects include continuing previous upgrades to the northern section of Tuckers Road which will improve the southern section of the road from its intersection with Hardys Road to offer a safer and more efficient commute.
Hardys Road will be upgraded between its intersection with Berwick-Cranbourne Road and Pound Road.
Works also include the construction of a new signalised intersection and multiple intersections at new residential estates and the future Hardys Road Major Town Centre.
A new north-south arterial road, Bells Road, will stretch from the Monash Freeway’s new Beaconsfield interchange to Clyde, while providing direct connections to bordering new estates and significantly relieving congestion on surrounding arterial roads.
South Gippsland Highway and Glasscocks Road intersection works will connect Glasscocks Road to South Gippsland Highway and include a signalised traffic intersection, providing an alternative east-west link to Thompsons Road, which is already experiencing significant congestion.
The works will improve travel times and road safety for vehicles and pedestrians in the Cranbourne North area.
