AN ENDEAVOUR Hills singer could be belting out the tunes on the next series of Australian Idol.
Madison Pritchett, who made it through to the top 24 on the hit television show back in 2007, told the News she felt ready to tackle this weekend’s Melbourne auditions.
“I’m going to give it another shot as I want to make it to the top 12 contestants,” she said.
“I feel more mature this time around.”
The 18-year-old said the feelings of rejection she had after taking part last time put a hold on her career.
“When I didn’t get through, I stopped singing for about three months,” she said.
“It’s emotional putting yourself out there to be judged by everyone.”
Maddison said the Channel 10 show gave up and coming singers a chance to be seen by the public.
“It’s a publicity stepping stone,” she said.
“I’d like to get my original songs out there and for people to know who I am.”
Maddison is studying for a bachelor of popular music performance at the JMC Academy in South Melbourne, which is Australia’s leading music and entertainment technology training provider.
The budding performer is learning the tricks of the trade from other musicians in the industry, while having weekly lessons at the David Jaanz School of Singing in Oakleigh.
“At university I’ve learnt about the different genres of music, the history of music, what songs will sound good on television and how to connect with an audience,” she said.
