THE Casey–Cardinia Transport Connections project, Bringing it Together, is assisting communities to work together in an effort to improve local transport.
The project, which has a focus on small regional and rural communities, aims to decrease social isolation.
Casey acting mayor Daniel Mulino said the project would assist the development of innovative approaches for people with limited access to transport, and make participation in community life easier.
“The Summer Holiday Bus service and the extension of the NightRider Bus service to Beaconsfield are good examples of local partnerships that use existing assets and services such as taxis, school buses, community buses and volunteers, to develop transport solutions for people from isolated areas,” he said.
Due to the success of the Summer Holiday Bus service, which operated from Lang Lang, Kooweerup, and Cardinia to Fountain Gate, a similar service operated on several days during the April school holidays.
