Berwick’s $12 million mansion

A $12 million Berwick mansion is up for sale, featuring an “Aussie Provincial” lavish-style interior and sprawling gardens.

The hidden gem is located at 24-26 Glen Moidart Drive and features seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms and space for 14 cars.

O’Brien Real Estate corporate director Darren Hutchins said the property is the largest he has sold in the Berwick area.

“It has the best of everything. Across 190sqm you’ve got plenty of garage space, accommodation… It’s got a resort themed pool based off one up in Port Douglas and substantial gardens across three acres,” he said.

“It’d be the best house in Berwick, if not one of the best houses in Victoria.”

Mr Hutchins said the previous owners, who own a successful business in the area, built the mansion about 12 years ago and are now looking to downsize locally.

“There’s plenty of interest – a lot of local families, but not everyone has that sort of money to spend on a house,” he said.

Beyond grandiose features including a fully equipped theatre room, floodlit tennis court and home gym, the interior of the home also provides a unique selling point.

“The owner calls it ‘Aussie Provincial’ – that’s how he refers to it,’ Mr Hutchins laughed.

While perhaps not an official interior design style, the estate’s ‘Aussie Provincial’ influence is typified by lavish chandeliers, floor to ceiling curtains and an indoor bronze water feature.

The property is listed for private sale and is expected to fetch $11m to $12m.
