Cleaning up our community

The Rotary Club of Berwick are showcasing their commitment to the community after taking part in Clean Up Australia Day 2022.

A group of 14 Rotarians and friends from the club gathered at Buchanan Park and got to work on Sunday 6 March.

The project was organised in partnership with the City of Casey by Rotarian Jen Marshall.

Clean Up Australia provided the participants with rubbish bags, along with high-vis vests and gloves in various sizes.

Despite the dull showery weather, work began at 10am after a safety talk and the group worked efficiently to pick up a wide variety of rubbish throughout the park.

About 111kg of rubbish was collected, made up of 36kg of general rubbish and 75kg of hard rubbish including paper, broken glass, fire extinguishers, several road signs, a metal post, a shopping trolley, a rotten table-top and assorted wood pieces.

“A thoroughly enjoyable and productive time was had by all and Buchanan Park was left spotlessly clean,” a rotary spokesperson said.
