Cranbourne fired up for finals

CRANBOURNE BOWLS

With the final round of home-and-away games now completed Cranbourne has finished fourth on the ladder and is looking forward to going one better than its grand final loss last year.

The club has had a pretty good year with three teams playing in finals on the weekend, while mid-week pennant has one more game to go to complete the fixture and has either two or three teams looking to play finals.

Side 1 – Division 2 Sec 5

Head coach Lyn Quigg said after last week’s game, “I believe that the players now need to hit the switch on the weekend and produce our best bowls and show the club what this team is capable of producing. So far we have had a good year but we must play at our best if we are to go one better than last year’s grand final loss which should be on the minds of all of us”.

Cranbourne finished fourth on the ladder and play finals away.

Side 2 – Division 2 Sec 6

A win at home was a great result and put the club in great spirits for the club’s end of year celebration dinner.

Cranbourne finished sixth on the ladder.

Side 3 – Division 3 Sec 6

Like the second side Cranbourne missed out on playing finals but enjoyed the year despite a number of changes to the side over the year.

Side 4 – Division 6B Sec 6 (12 a side)

A good win against Clayton by 17 shots was enough to place Cranbourne on top of the ladder, with players looking forward to playing finals.

Supporters are most welcome to come down and watch the home team play in a final on Saturday afternoon. Cranbourne finished first on the ladder and play a home final on Saturday.

Side 5 – Division 7 Sec 7 (12 a side)

This side lost a few players before the game but managed to compete and have now earnt the right to play in a final. Cranbourne finished fourth on the ladder and play finals away.

Side 1 – Division 2 Sec 6

Unfortunately Cranbourne has had another loss this time against Narre Warren and must rally this week to take on top of the ladder team Dandenong club.

Side 2 – Division 3 Sec 6

A huge win by 54 shots against Monbulk was an excellent result with two outstanding rinks including Skip Bill Sherriff with his team of Gwen Scott, Ian Barrenger and George Ljepojevic who won by 23 shots, while Skip Tony Whalley, supported by his team of Lynne Whalley, Kath Dudink and Rob Scott won by 34 shots.

Cranbourne 86 (14 points) defeated Monbulk 32 (2 points)

Side 3 – Division 3 Sec 7

What a game with Cranbourne victors by just two shots. Skip Yvonne Van Der Wees and her crew of Joe Byrne, Tom De Pradines, and Fritz Helle had an outstanding day winning by a massive 26 shots.

Cranbourne 58 (12 points) defeated Mulgrave 56 (4 points)

Side 4 – Division 4 Sec 6

Cranbourne was outplayed on the day by top-of-the-ladder side Dandenong RSL.
