Swans book ticket to big dance

Casey-South Melbourne are on the cusp of breaking a half-century drought.

The Swans are into the Vic Premier Cricket grand final, after a mature win over Richmond.

Will Carr’s side last tasted defeat 10 weeks ago, against Richmond.

And 193 to defend at the innings break, the Swans had some work to do.

Richmond held all the momentum going into the second innings, just collecting 5/41 to finish the Swans innings.

But this Casey outfit held their composure and secured a win that will be remembered for eternity.

The Swans restricted the Tigers to 10/136, after the Tigers were – at one stage – 1/47 with Jake Fraser-McGurk sizing up the Casey-South Melbourne attack.

His fiery departure started the avalanche for the Swans, and particularly Ruwantha Kellepotha.

The uber-gifted leg-spinner added another 4/32 to his season tally of 36 this summer, as he bowled the Swans to Vic Premier Cricket’s biggest stage.

Pick up this week’s GAZETTE for a detailed review of the Swans famous win, with comments from coach Will Carr.
