THE Casey Towers developer assures that the $100 million project will soon start taking shape in Narre Warren.
Local developer John Grossi told the News that designs, logistics and infrastructure plans for the complex would soon be completed, with construction planned for next year.
Mr Grossi said the project had been delayed as a result of the economic situation. He said the planning permit by the City of Casey was granted in 2007, prompting questions from the community about the project’s future.
He, however, said it was now back on track.
Mr Grossi said many of the country’s leading hotel groups had made offers to take charge of the project’s accommodation and dining elements.
Casey Towers, which will be located at the corner of Princes Highway and Victor Crescent, will feature a hotel complex with a gymnasium, a health spa, a beautician and hairdressers, and several bistros, cafes, a nightclub and a reception and convention centre.
The state-of-the-art design will be three separate towers, one 10 floors tall while the other two, five floors.
Described as an entertainment and lifestyle centre, Mr Grossi said his vision for the development was to be like the Novotel in Glen Waverley, having a hub of entertainment for the youth in Casey.
“We need to keep the young people in Casey,” he said.
“They need somewhere where they can have late night eating options, play a game of pool or watch the footy.”
The Grossi and Cardamone Group purchased the land back in 1993.
City of Casey Planning manager Duncan Turner said the planning permit application for the Casey Towers development was approved by the council on 20 June 2007. The permit provides for a hotel, indoor recreation facility including a gymnasium with child care centre, dwelling/serviced apartments, licensed premises, buildings and works associated with all uses as well as car and bicycle provisions.
Casey Towers will take two years to complete from start of construction.
