A STATE-of-the-art tanker is the newest addition at the Hallam Fire Brigade.
The appliance was built by SEM Fire and Rescue specifically to meet the needs of the CFA.
“The tanker has replaced the old tanker meant for grass and scrub fires,” officer in charge Cliff O’Connor said.
“It has newer technology and built-in safety features. Crews sit in the cab now and are not exposed at the back of the tanker.”
The tanker is known as a 2.4C medium tanker with 4X4 capabilities. It features a crew spray protection system, crew cabin with a deck access hatch and a water monitor mounted to the front of the vehicle.
“It’s a great step forward for crew safety and the well-being of the citizens of the City of Casey,” Hallam Fire Brigade media liaison officer Audrey Corcoran said.
