A NARRE Warren South woman is urging local shop owners and the landlord of a Berwick shopping precinct to repaint the disabled car park spaces.
Barbara Watson says she is concerned about a lack of signage for the designated disabled parking spots outside the Hungry Jacks restaurant at Greaves Road.
She said the blue markings on the asphalt had faded and were no longer visible.
“The general public are using the disabled packing spot not knowing that it’s for those with a disability,” she said.
The 71-year-old, who uses a calliper and a walking stick, said the lack of appropriate signage hindered her ability to access the restaurant and shopping area.
“It’s a problem because to take my two grandchildren to Hungry Jacks I need to park close to the food outlet,” she said.
“Otherwise it’s too awkward to manoeuvre around.”
Ms Watson said there were also other designated disabled car spaces in the shopping centre that didn’t have appropriate signage.
Hungry Jacks Berwick franchisee Geoff Manson said the car park was the responsibility of the landowner, not the restaurant.
