While its stay in the top four was brief, Berwick Springs is making strong inroads in Division 1 of AFL Outer East.

The Titans made the toughest trip in Division 1 on Saturday, travelling to Seville Recreation Reserve to take on the unblemished Blues unit.

Despite losing skipper and spearhead Nathan O’Keefe to a knee injury, Seville still have an electrifying front half to go with its stable back six.

The Titans ultimately suffered an 8.11 (59) to 15.7 (97) defeat, after a horrendous opening term.

Seville kicked seven unanswered goals in the first term, leaving the Titans shell-shocked at the first change.

Rodney Benstead’s men turned the match around after the first change and proceeded to win the next three quarters as a collective.

While positive signs are emerging for the Titans, back-to-back slow starts will no doubt have an underline this week on Benstead’s whiteboard when Berwick Springs return from an extended bye.

Other Division 1 results: Healesville defeated Yarra Glen, 12.11 (83) to 5.10 (40) and Gembrook Cockatoo defeated Belgrave, 15.18 (108) to 6.10 (46).

The entire AFL Outer East competition has a bye over Queen’s Birthday weekend, with football set to return on 18 June.
