BEACONSFIELD – ROUND 8

13 White: Beaconsfield 24 v ROC 9

The last time we met ROC in round four it was a much closer encounter with only six goals in the final result.

This week 13 White got off to another great start with a couple of quick goals off some set plays. We went on to finish the first quarter with an 8-1 lead. We were winning our C pass easily and forcing intercepts from theirs. ROC took it up to us scoring five goals in the second and we needed to settle our shooting to become more accurate in the premiership quarter. Our movement into attack was on point, as was our patience and timing.

Each week we become stronger in our defensive game, working together to cover our players and cut off any drive the opposition may have. We create intercepts, opposition error or held ball with our player cover by moving our feet to the competition. We managed to keep ROC goalless in the final quarter giving us a comfortable 24-9 win.

We look forward to a week off giving a couple of injured players Marlee and Charlotte time to recover as we can’t wait to have them back on court. We are also very thankful to Tess who always brings a great game when she fills in when we really need her.

Awards: McDonalds – Sara – who had a great game in GS with more accurate goaling, great leads and ability to find front and post.

Twisted Sista – Chloe – who works hard to adjust her game against opponents and wears them down with her quick cover and ability to transition into attack when we intercept.

13 Blue: Beaconsfield 29 v ROC 27

Taking on ROC for the third time this season the girls went into the game full of excitement and positivity. From the first quarter the girls played as a team and after a tough and even first half were right in the game at half time. The third quarter saw us pull away to a six-goal lead with Milla Jones and Mia Spencer playing beautifully together in goals. Our mid court was patient and controlled using resets when needed and moving the ball around until goaling opportunities opened up. Our defence end of Taya, Tilly and Emmika made the ROC attackers work for every ball all game. The last quarter saw ROC come back hard causing us to start rushing and turning over the ball. To their credit, with the game in the balance the girls regrouped and hung on with a two-goal win. Well done to all the girls on a brilliant team game!

Awards: Over the Road – Milla Jones. Domino’s – Matilda Trew.

15 White: Beaconsfield 6 v ROC 24

The 15 White Beacy girls took on ROC this week at Holm Park. It was a great start to the game from the Beacy girls which was something that had been lacking in our previous meetings with ROC. We finished the first quarter down 3-7 and were looking really competitive. The second quarter was equally strong with our defenders working brilliantly and keeping ROC to only five goals…but we were unable to match that score line in our own goal circle. ROC’s defenders were simply too strong and we were only able to score another goal for the last half but this score line doesn’t adequately represent how hard the girls worked as a team against very strong opposition. I was very impressed with our team’s overall performance and given that some girls had been sick in bed all week, the girls should be very proud of the grit that was displayed as a team and we will continue working to close the gap against our opposition.

Awards: Over the Road – Chloe Buxton. McDonalds – Summer Hamilton.

15 Blue: Beaconsfield 12 v ROC 29

There were cold conditions this week for our game against ROC at Holm Park. We took a while to get ourselves in the game giving ROC a handy lead and we again found ourselves chasing. To our credit we always managed to lift our intensity and fight for every turn over. We have a little bit of work to do with our structures and keep our voices up when it comes to set ups. ROC was very fast with their ball movement which we struggled to defend against. Turning our turn overs into goals is definitely something we can work on. I was impressed with our timing on our drives and finding space was better this week. I love the positivity we bring each week just keep backing your abilities.

Awards: Claire and Annemieke.

17 White: Beaconsfield 40 v ROC 4

17 Whites took on ROC at home. Coming off two losses in a row we were determined to get back on track. We came out in the first quarter with a good start taking control and the lead early. We were right on track and playing our best netball, with everyone sticking to the game plan and executing everything perfectly. With the shooters being on, they were provided with a lot of opportunities with the mid court totally dominating. We raced away to an exciting 30 plus goal win.

Awards: Twisted Sista – Caitlin. Domino’s – Chloe.

17 Blue: Beaconsfield 9 v Narre Warren 26

The 17s came up against a tough competition on Saturday, which saw us play our best game yet! Individually the girls had a role to play and they worked super hard to achieve what I asked of them. We emphasised our defensive pressure, hitting the circle edge, utilising the middle channel more and working the ball closer to the ring. The girls should be very proud of their efforts despite not coming away with the win! Thank you also to Abby and Claire who came up from the 15s to help us out.

Awards: Charlotte and Sophie for their defensive pressure, rebounds and encouragement.

D Grade: Beaconsfield 24 v Wandin 22

I love the positivity that this group of girls bring each week, the advice and guidance they give each other is awesome they have really started to gel as a team. This week we played Wandin a team we haven’t played yet so we went with no expectations. It was a great game that displayed some great passages of play. The scores were tight throughout the game and we went into the last quarter being three goals down. We rallied around each other at the break and went into the last quarter ready to fight it out. We showed real control and movement with ball towards our attack after the strong work from our defence to create those turn overs. We managed to take on those pressures to come away with the win.

Awards: Whiteboards Direct – Caitlin Besecke, Brodie and Joeli.

C Grade: Beaconsfield 17 v Wandin 21

I had the pleasure of stepping in to coach the C grade girls this week. From the warm up led by Claire and Tianah the girls were focused and hungry. In a game that could easily have gone either way neither team gave an inch all day. It was tough and physical and the girls took on every challenge Wandin threw at them. Aside from a few little errors here and there the girls played a fantastic game. Fran and Tianah were rock solid in defence creating plenty of turnovers for our attackers which they for the most part converted to goals. Huge shout out to our team leaders Claire and Tianah who bring so much experience and positivity to the team. Sadly not a win on Saturday but we look forward to having another crack next time around.

Awards: Whiteboards Direct – Claire Stirling. Over the Road – Kayce Castle. Domino’s: Fran Paila.

B Grade: Beaconsfield 35 v Wandin 39

Our B Grade girls are really starting to hit their stride. We welcomed Wandin to Holm Park this weekend with the Bulldogs sitting higher on the ladder. We took last week’s momentum and started with a bang. Great court play from defence through to attack meant the Eagles were able to take the lead through to the first break. The good work kept coming with the team settling in nicely however a persistent Wandin was staying with our B Grade girls. Unfortunately, we were unable to close out the game in the last half, slipping behind and going down by five in the end. The improvement has been immense since round one and the girls should be proud of our efforts in the last few weeks. They know that opportunity is there, and they are building towards another strong game.

Awards: Whiteboards Direct–Kasey Brooks-McMillan. Over the Road – Jess Coburn. Domino’s – Kayla Voss.

A Grade: Beaconsfield 27 v Wandin 46

Our team once again came up against one of the league leaders in Wandin. Our defence had their work cut out for them, trying to nullify the Bulldogs swift attacking in the first half. Our attack had some difficulty penetrating their defensive zone, however the girls persisted having a great second half. Our start unfortunately put us behind early. Connections are building, and the vibe in the team is well. Playing great netball from the start and looking after possession will be our goal for next week. Awards: Whiteboards Direct – Millie Utber. Over the Road – Gabbi Stinear. Domino’s – Jordan Lang.
