Band with a plan

By Kelly Yates
LOCAL band Reasons Beyond Knowing is gearing up for their debut performance at Monash University next month.
Lead guitarist Jack Thompson from Berwick teamed up with Dale Alards as a result of their passion for music. The acoustic pop rock duo has been perfecting their craft for about seven years.
“I always liked to make music, and would belt the pots and pans as a child just to make some noise,” Thompson said.
“As a band we enjoy arranging songs differently like turning heavy rock songs into slow ballads,” he said.
Alards, 22, said he enjoyed capturing an audience through music.
“Everyone loves music in some way or another and it’s enjoyable when you see the crowd is really into your performance,” he said.
Alards has been songwriting for about three years, already creating around 12 original songs.
The band say they are more excited than nervous about the upcoming gig at the Berwick campus on 13 August from 1pm to 2pm.Thompson said he drew his musical passion from bands such as the Foo Fighters.
The up and coming musicians said they hoped to make it big in the music industry. Alards said he also wanted to pursue the professional songwriting career. The pair says they have continued support from their family and friends.
