THE City of Casey has officially opened the Wall of Global Friendships.
Unveiling the wall on Sunday, 5 July were delegates of Casey’s Global Friendship Advisory Committee, councillors Wayne Smith, Sam Aziz, and Mr Saleh Parkar.
The wall is located at the rear of the Balla Balla Centre in Cranbourne East and was built to celebrate and acknowledge Casey’s diverse cultural community.
Cr Aziz said that multicultural groups in Casey had been invited to contribute a plaque to the wall that represents the people of their ethnic community.
“The City of Casey is one of Melbourne’s most culturally diverse municipalities, with more than 163 different countries represented in our diverse civic make-up and 22 per cent of our population born in non-English speaking countries,” he said.
The Wall of Global Friendships is an outdoor community space with walls featuring messages of friendship and goodwill, as well as gardens, paths, seating and flagpoles.
