Full bore Cannons

CASEY Hockey Club’s men’s Metro One East side moved within a game of the top four with a resounding 8-0 win over a severely depleted Kew in round 14 on the weekend.
The Cannons clash with the bottom-placed strugglers to tune up for a tough run home that will hopefully see them sneak into the finals.
Casey made mincemeat out of the eight-man Kew side.
The thirds wrenched second spot away from St Bede’s in Metro Three South with an entertaining 3-2 win.
Fleet-footed midfielder James Doble sealed the win five minutes from time after the Cannons recovered from 2-1 down.
Captain Rodney Tredoux converted Chris Randall’s stunning cross to tie it back up.
The now bottom-placed State League One team put in a more spirited display, but went down 5-2 to a strong Footscray outfit.
The women’s State League Three side won again, defeating Greater Dandenong 2-1. April Picton and captain Fiona Young scored.
The twos drew 1-1 with Southern United in Metro One South, with Liz Nicholl on the scoresheet again; Metro Three South went down 1-0 to Greater Dandenong; and the fourths dropped their Metro Four South clash with Mornington Falcons 2-0.
Max McGreal and William Gray scored all the goals in their 8-0 win over Mornington in the under-nine south division.
