Winner takes all in best of five

At this particular point of each year, a selection of the football fraternity yearns for a best of three or best of five grand final.

That selection of supporters have got its wish this Friday, when Gembrook Cockatoo and Seville but heads for the Outer East Division One silverware.

The Brookers and Blues will fight it out for a spot in the top flight after already meeting four times this season.

The ledger: two apiece.

Knowing how to defeat Seville – considering they’ve done it twice already – Brookers coach Brad Coller feels it’ll come down to whoever can monopolise and then execute with momentum.

“They’re a good side and we’re 2-2 for the year,” he said.

“I think it’ll just come down to who gets a run on, because both teams are momentum teams.

“They did that in the last quarter in the semi, we did it in the game before that.

“It’s the thing with footy these days, if you get some momentum and pile some on, you can close the game early.

“I think both teams are pretty even over the whole side, both have dangerous forwards, the usual story is whoever gets the most inside 50s will probably win the game.”

In the second semi-final, there was more spice than a Mediterranean restaurant, with a number of reports and cards handed out.

Coller is expecting another physical contest with the Blues, while explaining his learnings from the most recent clash.

“We always expect that from Seville and they are fierce competitors,” he said.

“We will have to be ready for that, as we always are, hopefully things go our way.

“Maintaining a four-quarter game, in the last quarter we just didn’t stand up and that’s the game right there, so it will be a four-quarter approach.”
