AN ENTERTAINER with the whole package is what the judges are looking for as they prepare to crown this year’s Casey Idol.
Around 72 locals danced and sang their way through the auditions with the winning acts getting ready to perform at the Casey Idol final on Saturday 29 August.
The talent competition was open to everyone living, working or attending an educational institution within the municipality.
River Gum Ward councillor Wayne Smith said the competition attracted a mixture of entertainers, with teenage female vocalists being this year’s stand outs.
“The winner must have the whole package, with personality and presence on stage,” Cr Smith said.
The judges had the hard task of narrowing the contestants down to a final 23 performers.
“Every one of the finalists could be the next Casey Idol,” he said.
Organisers are hoping to attract more than 600 people to the Casey Idol event at the Arthur Wren Hall in Hampton Park.
The event kicks off at 7pm. Tickets cost $10 and will be available at the door.
This year’s competition winner will score a full day of recording and song production at Audio Visual Media in Cranbourne, and three copies of the recording on CD with full colour on-disc printing, valued at $350.
All finalists receive a $50 voucher from Audio Visual Media towards recording and production.
