Kids dance on

By Kelly Yates
THE Victoria Police band Code One rocked the stage with Berwick students this week.
The band, made up of Leading Senior Constable Brian Carbery and Constable Lorena Novoa, with senior musicians Richard Bennett, Simon Deppeler and Rick Varlet, performed at Berwick Fields Primary School on Monday.
Nearly 700 students sang and danced with the band as they sung hits from artists such as the Black Eyed Peas and Jet.
The band made a stop at the school to help them celebrate literacy week.
As part of the celebrations, students Jarryd and Ethan both received blue ribbon awards from the band for showing school values and an improvement in academic achievement.
Teacher Jaclyn Young said the students had lots of fun during the performance.
“They played all the current hits that they love and they all got up and danced the whole time,” she said.
Author Michael Wagner will be visiting the school this Friday to continue the Literacy Week events.
