Road works speed charge

POLICE caught a Narre Warren man travelling at 140 kilometres per hour in an 80 km/h road work zone along the Monash Freeway last weekend.
Police from the Stonnington Traffic Management Unit were targeting speeding drivers in the 80km/h and 60km/h road work zones on Friday and Saturday night.
Senior Constable James Robbins said motorists needed to be reminded that there were very good reasons for having lowered speed limits due to the dangerous environment road workers operate within.
The road works are expected to continue over the course of the coming months as part of the Monash upgrade project.
The 25-year-old man is expected to be charged on summons for speeding and driving while his licence was suspended.
