VICTORIA has achieved the best ever state-wide computer-to-student ratio, according to local MPs Luke Donnellan and Judith Graley.
There has been a 10 per cent improvement since the 2008 result, with the new figures showing the computer-to-student ratio is at one to 3:1.
Data from the 2009 Census of Computers in Victorian Government Schools revealed the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development now has 174,000 student computers in government schools.
This follows the purchase of an additional 47,000 student computers in the past 12 months prior to the census.
The additional computers replaced 30,000 old devices that resulted in 17,000 extra computers in schools.
