Casey art comes a full circle

THE City of Casey’s Civic Centre Art Space is awash with colour thanks to two new exhibitions.
Award-winning artist, writer and musician Marg Thomson is showcasing her exhibition, Full Circle, which features a colourful selection of mandala paintings.
“Full Circle aims to convey the endless possibilities that we are all capable of achieving, if only we can believe in ourselves long enough to get past what society, and other people, may think of, or judge us as,” Ms Thomson said.
She was introduced to mandala painting as art therapy several years ago and soon realised the power of the art form.
Ms Thomson follows the Jungian mandala model. She uses mandala art as a tool for self-growth and healing, and also teaches small groups.
Denise Milligan–Nobels’ exhibition, Clowns and Imaginary Beings, is a collection of meticulous and intriguing sculptured cloth dolls depicting beautiful characters in the form of textile art.
Ms Milligan–Nobels began making cloth dolls many years ago for her children; however, it was not until she injured her hands that she began to develop the idea in order to keep her hands supple and maintain their strength.
“The artistic possibilities of cloth dolls are endless and I can create figures of my wildest dreams,” Ms Milligan–Nobels said.
The Civic Centre Art Space is located at the City of Casey Council offices at Magid Drive in Narre Warren.
It is open Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm. Entry is free and most artworks are available to purchase.
