FIREFIGHTERS used the jaws of life to cut drivers free from their vehicles after two car smashes in the City of Casey last Wednesday.
Emergency services were alerted just after 2.30pm after a two-car smash at the corner of Clyde and Greaves Roads in Berwick. CFA firefighters from Berwick and Dandenong used heavy rescue equipment to cut the side out of the vehicle where the driver was trapped.
Ambulance officers treated several people on scene before transporting them to several different hospitals. Meanwhile, that same day, two people were trapped in a vehicle after a single-car crash along the Monash Freeway in Narre Warren.
After being cut out of the wrecked vehicle, one person was airlifted to hospital.
Traffic in and around Narre Warren was severely disrupted for several hours, according to Fourth Lieutenant Damien Baker.
