Grants boost for youth

APPLICATIONS for the National Youth Week 2010 grants programs are now open.
The grants recognise the value of young people within their community by supporting local projects, events and activities organised by young people for young people.
National Youth Week is Victoria’s largest celebration of young people and next year it will run from 10 to 18 April.
The State Government, through the office for youth, in partnership with the Federal Government and beyondblue, the national depression initiative, is offering groups of young people who are supported by local governments, not-for-profit organisations or schools, the opportunity to apply for one of three grant types:
• $2000 for a group of young people working with organisations to deliver a local community-based project.
•$5000 for projects that demonstrate collaborative partnerships between young people and two or more organisations working across local government areas or rurally isolated townships.
• $2000 for young people working with organisations to deliver an event with a mental health and wellbeing focus. Up to 25 $2000 grants will be sponsored through funding provided by beyondblue.
Applications close Friday, 30 October. Details visit the www.grants.dpcd.vic.gov.au.
