Casey hits the leisure pinnacle

CASEY has been awarded with a National Parks and Leisure Australia award and an Australian Property Institute award after being recognised for its work in building Casey RACE and developing the Leisure Facilities and Development Plan.
At the Parks and Leisure Australia national conference in September, the City of Casey’s Leisure Facilities and Development Plan (LFDP) was announced as the winner of the Parks and Leisure Australia National Award for Excellence in the category of Planning.
Casey CEO Mike Tyler said the plan was the most comprehensive and visionary sports plan ever developed by an Australian local government.
“Our success at the state and national levels demonstrates that council is leading the way in developing long-term, strategic approaches for the future provision of sustainable sporting facilities and sports development opportunities for Casey’s growing community,” he said.
The LFDP proposes the construction of more than $90 million worth of sports facilities for the municipality.
Mr Tyler said the city was equally delighted to recently receive a prestigious Australian Property Institute (API) Excellence in Property Award in the category of Local Government Property for the $37.9 million state-of-the-art Casey RACE.
The award was presented to Mike Tyler and City of Casey director Infrastructure Services Ray Butler at an awards event held in Melbourne in September.
