Ageing positively in Casey

A MEN’S cookery course, sporting programs and health and well-being projects were some of the initiatives that received funding at Casey’s recent Ageing Positively Grants ceremony.
Casey mayor Cr Geoff Ablett presented the successful community groups and organisations with the grants, which will be used to provide a variety of community activities, projects and resources for older residents.
The aim of the grants program was to encourage the development and enhancement of innovative and quality programs within the municipality.
According to Cr Ablett, an amount of $13,000 was allocated in the 2009-2010 budget for the Ageing Positively Grants.
The successful 2009-2010 Ageing Positively Grants recipients included the Berwick Anglican Church, Berwick Regional Concert Band, Berwick RSL Sub-Branch, Blind Bight Community Centre, Cranbourne Stroke Survivors and Carers Support Group, Hallam Community Learning Centre and Living Life – Seniors Radio Program.
There was also Narre Community Learning Centre, Narre Warren Senior Citizens Centre, South Eastern Region Migrant Resource Centre Casey Office, YMCA – Casey RACE and the Young Generation Filipino Senior Citizens Club of South East.
