Grants ring up changes

GRANTS valued at $1200 have been presented to two kindergartens, a football club and a primary school in the City of Casey.
Bridgewater Kindergarten in Berwick, Fountain Gate Junior Football Club, Allara Kindergarten in Endeavour Hills and Mossgiel Park Primary School are among 625 recipients of Telstra Kids Fund grants from the Telstra Foundation this year.
The kindergartens will use the money to install bike racks and buy new play equipment, while the Narre Warren football club is set to buy new team jumpers for the over-nine team.
Mossgiel Park Primary School will buy award badges to celebrate the multimedia achievements of its students.
Telstra’s Kids Fund has committed $750,000 this year towards supporting projects and activities run by not-for-profit organisations.
Telstra area general manager for Melbourne Pat O’Beirne said Telstra’s Kids Fund showed the company’s commitment to grassroots community investment.
Since it was established in 2002, the Telstra Foundation has provided more than $31 million to 5850 community projects and programs across Australia.
Community areas to receive grants include schools, arts and culture groups, sport and recreation clubs, disability services and environmental organisations.
