CASEY traffic police nabbed 44 drivers exceeding the speed limit in school zones during a three-hour period on Tuesday as they continued to run Operation Juno.
Operation Juno was launched by police from the Casey Traffic Management Unit (TMU) last month in a bid to stop drivers ignoring school zone speed limits.
The police set up at Oatlands Primary School in Narre Warren and Brentwood Park Primary School in Berwick between 2.20pm and 5.20pm.
Senior Constable Allen Inderwisch from the Casey TMU said police nabbed one unregistered vehicle, one P-plate motorist driving a high powered vehicle, two drivers failing to wear seat belts and one learner driver with no qualified driver in the car.
Child safety is one of the main aims behind the new operation.
According to Sen Const Inderwisch, police will be using marked and unmarked vehicles and the police motorbike.
Some police will also be patrolling the streets on foot. Operation Juno will run until April next year.
